If you have never heard of the Nerf gun range you probably don’t have a boy! These Nerf guns have become incredibly popular over the last few years, with the Nerf Vortex Nitron being the big seller this year according to all the large toy shops.
With Christmas looming and an 11 year old boy needing a present I started researching the bewildering array of Nerf guns. Buying the wrong one is almost as bad as buying nothing! And I agree with the toy shops. The Nerf Vortex Nitron is the one to get.

Long Distance Blasting
The Vortex Nitron features an acceleration trigger to blast those discs a massive distance. Hasbro (who makes the guns) use technical terms like XLR long range disc technology to explain why it gets these long distances. I don’t care how, but I do know that on a still day outside it can go up to 50 feet!
Fully Automatic With 20 Disc Clip
The Nitron is the first blaster in the Vortex range that is fully automatic. Hold the trigger and shoot 20 discs in a matter of seconds. While your “enemies” shoot a couple of shots towards you you can hose them with a full clip! What would you rather have on the battlefield, a pump action shotgun or an automatic rifle?

What Are People Saying About the Nerf Vortex Nitron?
So what do other people think of the Nitron? Well, it got 4.1 out of 5 stars on US Amazon (at time of writing it was too new in the UK to have a rating). This Nerf gun is well on track to be one of the most popular toys for boys for Christmas.
Although the reviews were pretty good there were a few suggestions from some reviewers on how to make the product better. The big problem was the automatic nature of the gun which runs through the 20 supplied discs in a matter of seconds. A number of people suggested getting another magazine and 20 discs to swap when the gun runs throug the first magazine. One little boy also suggested that the discs should be bright orange to find it better in long grass! Nothing major, but something to keep in mind.

Conclusion
Boys love guns so you can never go wrong with a Nerf gun as a present. The great thing is that it is safe as well, as the discs are foam. This toy gun is fast becoming the must have toy for boys due to its extraordinary features (distance and automatic). Real buyers are wholeheartedly recommending it and I see no reason to disagree with them. Never mind buying it for my son, I want one as well!
